Privacy Policy
Version 1 · Updated July 6, 2026
TribeCove ("we", "us") runs a private social app for self-governed groups ("tribes"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We keep it short and honest.
What we collect
- Account info — your name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash).
- Content you create — tribes, charters, flags, chat messages, photos/files/voice notes you share, events, decisions, votes, and fund entries.
- Optional location for ETA — only if you explicitly turn on ETA sharing for an event, and only your estimated arrival time is shared with the tribe — never your raw location or live position.
- Device push token — if you enable notifications, so we can deliver them.
- Basic technical data — standard request logs needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use it
- To provide the service — run your tribes, deliver messages, host events, send notifications you asked for.
- To keep the community safe — review reports and act on objectionable content or abusive users.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who can see your content
Tribe content (chat, events, decisions, media) is visible only to members of that tribe. Tribe chat text is end-to-end encrypted. Public tribes show only their name, flag, and charter in Discover. We access content only as needed to operate the service, respond to reports, or comply with law.
Your choices & rights
- Delete your account anytime from Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and associated data.
- Block any user, and report any message, user, or tribe from within the app.
- Notifications and ETA sharing are opt-in and can be turned off anytime.
- Request a copy of your data or ask questions by emailing us (below).
Data retention & security
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove it. Passwords are hashed; tribe chat text is end-to-end encrypted; media is served only to tribe members. No method is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
TribeCove is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
